The first two I made are dedicated to my wife and are titked: “Love The One You Are With”…and “It’s Not The Breast I Miss”.
As 2010 approaches I am excited to be putting lots of new ideas and designs into my ongoing favorite series of work. Overall, I am experimenting with more alternative glazing options that include metallic lusters, raw minerals and glaze layering combinations.

All this new work is in preparation for my invitation to be the featured artist at several galleries, including the Museum and Arts Complex in Sequim in July 2010.

Featured work includes two series: hand built salmon, decorated with lusters as well as a current successful and popular series of oil lamps. My love of exploration of the dark passages of wild caves for extended periods gave me a deep respect and love for the soft glow the lamps provide. The salmon series is a Northwest inspiration with an effort to take surface color to a new level using rare and hard to find lusters made years ago.

A new special series using local clay is currently being developed for the Museum and Arts Complex show next July. It will feature an oxidation fired black/silvery oil spot glaze formulated from clays of Clallam County.

In January 2009, I made the commitment to join the Blue Whole Cooperative Gallery in Sequim. This excellent gallery outlet has provided the mainstay of Bauer Haus Pottery sales outside of select special orders. I participated in our first studio tour sponsored by Sequim Arts during the 2009 Lavender Festival and look forward to an expanded tour to work with in 2010. In addition I have ventured into a more active on-line sales effort with being represented on “Artists of Washington”.

As a successful juried artist, I’m always anticipating a special show and participate every year in Empty Bowls projects and donate pieces to various charitable associations across the country.

Current Series:

 • Local Co-op gallery inventory
• Wall hanging hand built, high fired salmon overglazed with metallic lusters
• Collective series of oil lamps fueled by smokeless paraffin lamp oil.
• Extra large serving bowls
• Hanging assembled ceramic sculptures for placement inside or outside the house
• Indigenous clay oil spot series
