Show at Louisville Stoneware
Our first workshop with Mel Jacobson was when we learned the value of custom made wood tools to personalize our work. These specially carved tools are used on wet clay to make impressions and markings that are unique to each piece.
All work is generally bisque fired to cone 08 in preparation for glazing. Glaze is dipped, sprayed, overlayered, brushed, resisted and applied according to each specific piece. We do reduction firings and electric firings to 2345o, cone 10. We also share soda firing with a local ceramic educator, Bill Merrill.
Over the years, Andi and Rudy have created a vast collection of stamps, forms, molds and found articles to stylize our work. Indispensable to the process are:
- Bob Carver wood throwing tools
• wood scalpels, Cynthia Bringle tool
